Making Futures is a social enterprise that works with a wide range of groups to improve health, wellbeing, self-esteem and employability through creative arts. We passionately believe in the power of the arts to enhance people’s lives, reduce stress, combat loneliness and foster community cohesion. Our mission is to develop peoples’ skills, enabling them to make beautiful things. Through learning and making people can go on to create a future that works for them.
We offer professional design programmes in handknitting – our programmes are studied by distance learning and students who complete our programmes are able to have their work formally accredited by City & Guilds.
For details for the programmes we offer, prospectus and enrolment information, please see our separate pages here.
We work with community groups, schools, colleges and third sector organisations to deliver a wide range of workshops, classes and learning opportunities. You can find out more about our classes, workshops and learning opportunities here.
An experienced retailer and designer-maker Debbie also offers business mentoring and start-up advice to new creative enterprises. In particular she works with individuals who face barriers to employment, working with them to set up home-based creative businesses that allow them to achieve their potential whilst having regard to any specific needs they may have. If you have a project in mind, you can find out more about our approach here.
